You are here: Homepage > Agricultural Tenancies > Long Agricultural Lease What is it?This Agreement is for letting of a Farm Business, with or without residential property attached to it for a period in excess of 7 years. The Agreement itself is drawn up under the Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995 and in accordance with the 2006 Agricultural Tenancies Order. There are strict criteria which must be met t ensure the Agreement comes within the scope of the Act, essentially that the character of the Agreement is primarily or wholly for agricultural purposes. If the Agreement fails to satisfy the criteria required to be a Farm Business Tenancy Agreement, it will become governed as a standard Business Tenancy Agreement under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.
